ART Program

The Art Program at Connect starts with the basics of line, color,  and proper use of supplies and medium. We build on that foundation with grade-appropriate lessons that are highly engaging and teach the elements of art, proper technique, and use a wide variety of art mediums. Students gain visual art literacy through exposure to drawing, painting, printmaking, fiber, ceramics and other media and by the end of the school year, each grade meets the state and national visual art standard requirements.

While most of the lessons have a directed project plan, there is plenty of room for creativity and self-expression, no two art pieces look the same. We integrate SEL in the art program through discussions of an art piece; how it makes people feel, the artist and their lives and art history; art is so rich in emotion and expression it is easy for students to make connections.
